  • Regular and Dark Recipe....What's the Difference?
    Our “Regular” fruit cake recipe, a traditional favorite, may be more popular than our “Dark” variety; however, the “Dark” cakes contain the same high fruit-and-nut content. The difference lies in the molasses, spices and natural, sun-dried raisins which give the “Dark” cakes a slightly darker texture. Our “Regular” fruit cakes feature both golden and natural raisins and also contain imitation rum flavoring. Our Special "RD Sampler" provides a great opportunity to try both recipe choices at a great price.

Years ago, I purchased a Claxton Fruit Cake but was very disappointed with it. To me, it tasted like all the dried fruit, nuts & orange peel were just crammed into a 1 pound cake made of lard. Well, that was years ago, but this season, I tried a few other fruit cakes but were not enthused with any of them. So I figured I'd give you guys another shot at this holiday treat. Guess what? As far as I'm concerned, your creations are the BEST! I purchased one Dark & one Regular Fruit Cake. I wolfed those two down like I was starving to death! They were magnificent! From now on, I will not buy any other fruit cake than Claxton! The mix of fruits, nuts, orange peel, along with the cake itself was a perfect harmony of your wonderful product. Please don't change a thing with this recipe. You're the best! And if you're open all year long, you just might find me purchasing this delicacy in mid-Summer.
